The Violet-capped Woodnymph (Thalurania glaucopis) is a striking hummingbird species found in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. This small to medium-sized bird is characterized by its iridescent green upperparts, white underparts, and a vibrant violet cap on its head. The species is known for its agile flight and its distinctive high-pitched vocalizations. It primarily feeds on nectar from flowers and is an important pollinator within its habitat. The Violet-capped Woodnymph is highly associated with forested areas, including both primary and secondary growth, and is often found in the canopy and edges of these habitats. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, its conservation status is currently categorized as Least Concern by the IUCN.
