Visayan Hornbill

Penelopides manillae

The Visayan Hornbill, scientifically known as Penelopides manillae, is a medium-sized bird species native to the Philippines. It is characterized by its large, curved bill and distinctive casque on top of the bill. These birds play a vital role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers, feeding on a variety of fruits and insects. The Visayan Hornbill is primarily found in lowland forests and forest edges, but due to habitat loss and hunting, their population has declined significantly. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their remaining habitats and prevent further population decline.
