Junco vulcani
The Volcano Junco (Junco vulcani) is a small sparrow-like bird found in the highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. It is known for its distinctive gray plumage with a pinkish-buff belly and a pink bill. These juncos are often found in cloud forests and páramo habitats, where they forage for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates. They are known for their social behavior and can often be seen in small flocks. The Volcano Junco is not currently considered to be globally threatened, but local populations may be at risk due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
