Linaria johannis (Clarke, S, 1919)

Fringillidae — Finches, Euphonias

Warsangli Linnet, Linaria johannis, is a finch of the family Fringillidae that breeds in north-east Somalia in montane areas with juniper and euphorbia. It is the only member of its range given here. It was described by Clarke, S, 1919. The bird was once placed in Carduelis, but is now treated in Linaria because its plumage resembles that of the Common Linnet, Linaria cannabina. Its genetic status has not yet been examined.
