Watkins's Seedeater

Incaspiza watkinsi

Watkins's Seedeater (Incaspiza watkinsi) is a small bird species found in the Andes of Peru. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with males having a black head and throat, white underparts, and black wings with white spots. Females have similar patterning but are more brownish in color. These seedeaters inhabit high-altitude grasslands and shrubby areas, often foraging for seeds and insects on the ground or in low vegetation. Their populations are currently stable, but they may face threats from habitat loss and climate change.
