Crax globulosa
The wattled curassow is a large, ground-dwelling bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is known for its distinctive appearance, with a black body, white belly, and bright red wattle on its throat. This species primarily feeds on fruits, seeds, and insects, and is often heard making loud, guttural calls in the forest understory. Wattled curassows play a key role in seed dispersal and are important for the health of their habitat. Unfortunately, they are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, leading to a decline in their populations.
