Waved Albatross, Phoebastria irrorata, is a member of the albatross family and breeds in the Pacific Ocean on Hood, also known as Española in the south-east Galápagos, and on Isla de la Plata off coastal Ecuador. Outside the breeding season it moves to coastal waters of Ecuador and northern Peru. It is a medium-sized albatross, and adults are marked by a wave-like pattern in the plumage, from which the bird takes its name. The bill is very long and bright yellow, standing out strongly against the head and neck.
