Glycifohia undulata
The Waved Albatross, scientifically known as Glycifohia undulata, is a large seabird with a wingspan of up to 2.5 meters. It is known for its distinctive wavy pattern on the adult's plumage. These birds are primarily found in the Galápagos Islands, where they breed and feed on fish, squid, and crustaceans. Waved Albatrosses are remarkable for their elaborate courtship displays, which involve bill clacking and an intricate dance. They are well adapted for long-distance oceanic flights and are often seen gliding effortlessly over the open sea. Despite their impressive flying abilities, they are considered vulnerable due to threats such as bycatch in fishing gear and habitat degradation.
