Wedge-rumped Storm Petrel

Hydrobates tethys (Bonaparte, 1852)

Wedge-rumped Storm Petrel, Hydrobates tethys, is a member of the order Procellariiformes and the family Hydrobatidae, the Northern Storm Petrels. It breeds in the Pacific Ocean on islands of northern Galápagos and off the coasts of central Peru and north-central Chile. Outside the breeding season it occurs along the coast from central Baja California, including the southern Gulf of California in north-west Mexico, to northern Chile, and across the tropical Pacific to south-east of the Hawaiian Islands and north-east of the Marquesas Islands in eastern Polynesia.
