Lophoceros semifasciatus (Hartlaub, 1855)
West African Pied Hornbill, Lophoceros semifasciatus, is a hornbill of West Africa, breeding from Senegal and Gambia to southern Nigeria. It is associated mainly with secondary forest in the Guinean-Congolese forest zone. A notable feature of its taxonomic history is that it was once treated as the same species as the Congo Pied Hornbill, before being separated in IOC 13.2. It feeds on fruit. The species was described by Hartlaub in 1855.
