Western Bearded Greenbul, Criniger barbatus, is a bulbul of western and central Africa. It belongs to the family Pycnonotidae and is a passerine. Its breeding range runs from Sierra Leone to Benin, with a separate population in southern Nigeria. It was first described by Temminck in 1821. The species is associated with subtropical or tropical dry forest and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. Two subspecies are recognised: Criniger barbatus barbatus and Criniger barbatus ansorgeanus.
