Western Crowned Pigeon

Western Crowned Pigeon, Goura cristata, breeds in Raja Ampat Islands and the Bird’s Head and Neck of north-west New Guinea in Australasia. It is a large pigeon of lowland rainforest, and is one of the biggest members of its family. The bird is blue-grey, with a lacy blue crest on the head and dark blue feathering around the eyes. Males are usually larger than females. It was described by Pallas in 1764.
