Western Orphean Warbler, Curruca hortensis, is a passerine of the Sylviidae family that breeds in south-west Europe and north-west Africa, and spends the non-breeding season in western Africa from Senegal to Chad. It is a bird of open deciduous woodland and is found in summer around the Mediterranean. Among typical warblers, it is one of the larger kinds. Adult males have a grey back, pale underparts, a dark head, a black eye mask and a white throat, with a long pointed bill and black legs. Females and young birds are duller, with browner tones and a paler head.
