Weyns's Weaver

Ploceus weynsi

Weyns's Weaver is a small, strikingly colored bird found in the woodlands and savannas of central Africa. The male has bright yellow plumage with a black mask and distinctive red eyes, while the female is more subdued with olive-green and yellow tones. These weavers are known for their intricately woven, gourd-shaped nests, which are suspended from tree branches. They are social birds, often seen in small flocks foraging for insects and seeds. Weyns's Weavers are generally non-migratory and are known for their acrobatic displays during courtship. Despite some localized threats, their population is currently considered stable.
