Whiskered Auklet, Aethia pygmaea, is a small auk of the North Pacific, breeding patchily on the Aleutian Islands and on islands off eastern Russia, including the Commander and Kuril islands and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is one of the smallest alcids, with only the Least Auklet smaller. Its name comes from the long white facial feathers shown in breeding plumage. The species is confined to a narrower range than other Aethia auklets and was first described by Gmelin in 1789.
