Melaniparus leuconotus
The White-backed Tit is a small passerine bird found in eastern and southern Africa. It is easily recognized by its white back and black and white plumage. This social bird is often found in mixed-species foraging flocks, and it feeds on insects and seeds. The White-backed Tit builds its nest in tree cavities and lays a clutch of eggs. Its melodious song can be heard in its woodland and savanna habitats. Although it is not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential future threats to this species.
