White-banded swallow

Atticora fasciata

The White-banded swallow is a small passerine bird found in South America. It is known for its distinctive white band across its chest and its long, pointed wings. These agile birds are often seen in open areas near water, where they catch insects on the wing. They build their cup-shaped nests in cavities, such as holes in cliffs or walls. The White-banded swallow is a social species, often forming large flocks during the non-breeding season. Their melodious twittering calls can be heard as they fly gracefully through the air.
