Mecocerculus stictopterus
The White-banded Tyrannulet (Mecocerculus stictopterus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Andes of South America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, white underparts with a distinctive black breast band, and a yellowish wash on the flanks. This species is known for its acrobatic foraging behavior, often seen perching on mossy branches and darting out to catch flying insects. It inhabits montane cloud forests and elfin forests, typically found at elevations between 1,800 and 3,300 meters. The White-banded Tyrannulet is considered to be of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List due to its relatively large range and stable population.
