The White-bearded Hermit (Phaethornis hispidus) is a medium-sized hummingbird found in the tropical forests of South America. This species is known for its solitary and territorial behavior, often perching on exposed branches to defend its feeding territory. The White-bearded Hermit primarily feeds on nectar from flowers and occasionally consumes small insects. It plays a vital role in pollination within its habitat. Due to habitat loss and deforestation, the conservation status of this species is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
