White-bearded Manakin

Manacus manacus

The White-bearded Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. The males are known for their striking black plumage with a bright white throat and beard-like feathers. They perform elaborate courtship displays in leks, where they hop and dance to attract females. These birds feed on fruits, insects, and small invertebrates, foraging in the lower levels of the forest. Their populations are generally stable, but they are vulnerable to habitat loss and fragmentation.
