White-bellied Antpitta

The White-bellied Antpitta (Syndactyla dimidiata) is a small, ground-dwelling bird found in the cloud forests of the Andes mountains in South America. It has a distinctive white belly and chestnut-brown upperparts, with a short tail and strong legs adapted for hopping and running on the forest floor. These secretive birds are often heard before they are seen, emitting a series of loud, whistled notes. They forage for insects and other invertebrates in the leaf litter and dense undergrowth of the forest. Due to their elusive nature and restricted range, they are seldom seen by humans.
