Centropus leucogaster
The White-bellied Coucal, also known as the White-bellied Coucal, is a large, ground-dwelling bird found in the forests and woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its distinctive deep booming call and its habit of skulking through dense vegetation. The White-bellied Coucal has a long tail, strong legs, and a stout bill, and is primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of insects and small vertebrates. It builds a domed nest from grass and leaves, often placed low in dense vegetation. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential future threats to this species.
