White-bellied Hummingbird, Elliotomyia chionogaster, breeds in South America from northern Peru to north-western Argentina. It is a hummingbird of the family Trochilidae, found on the eastern slopes of the Andes and in nearby open country. Its range also extends through Bolivia and into Brazil. The species has a medium-length straight bill with a dark-tipped blackish upper mandible and a reddish lower mandible. It is usually seen in semi-open places, including forest margins, secondary growth, shrubland, plantations and gardens, especially in drier areas with cacti, agaves, Alnus or Eucalyptus.
