White-bellied Parrot, Pionites leucogaster, is a parrot of South America’s Amazonia, breeding in humid tropical forest across Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. It belongs to the Psittacidae family and was described by Kuhl in 1820. The species is a chunky, short-tailed bird, and the sexes look alike. The nominate form has a yellow head with an orange crown and nape, a white lower breast and belly, and bright green thigh feathers. Its range includes forest edges and openings, and it also occurs in some drier forest at the southern edge of its distribution.
