White-bellied Robin

Poecilodryas hypoleuca

The White-bellied Robin is a small passerine bird native to the rainforests of New Guinea. It is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a distinctive white belly. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the dense understorey of the forest. White-bellied Robins are insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates on the forest floor and in low vegetation. They are known for their agile and acrobatic movements as they search for food. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential risks to the population of this species.
