White-bellied Tanager

Tangara brasiliensis (Linnaeus, 1766)

White-bellied Tanager, Tangara brasiliensis, is a tanager of south-east Brazil, where it is a resident of the Atlantic Forest. It is tied to humid forest, and it also occurs in woodland, forest and cultivated areas. Formerly treated as part of the turquoise tanager, it is now recognised as a separate species. Adults are long-tailed and have a dark, stout, pointed bill. The species is mainly dark blue and black, with turquoise edging on the primaries and a white belly.
