White-bibbed Antbird

Thamnomanes schistogynus

The White-bibbed Antbird is a medium-sized bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is known for its distinctive white bib on the throat and chest, which contrasts with its dark plumage. These birds are often found foraging on or near the forest floor in search of insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their complex vocalizations and are often heard before they are seen. White-bibbed Antbirds are typically found in dense, humid lowland forests and are known to form mixed-species foraging flocks with other antbird species. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, their populations are declining, and they are currently classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
