White-breasted Cuckooshrike
Cissomela pectoralis
The White-breasted Cuckooshrike (Cissomela pectoralis) is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a white breast and belly, and black wings and back. The species is often observed perched in the canopy, where it hunts for insects and small vertebrates. The White-breasted Cuckooshrike is known for its melodious and far-carrying whistling calls, which are often heard during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
