Accipiter chionogaster (Kaup, 1852)

White-breasted Hawk, Accipiter chionogaster, breeds in Middle America from southern Mexico to Nicaragua, with its range running through Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. It is a highland bird of pine and pine-oak woodland, and it also uses cloud forest, tropical dry forest and farmland, mostly between 300 and 3,000 m. It is a small Accipiter hawk, and the adult has dark upperparts, white underparts and cheeks, and whitish-buff thighs. Juveniles are darker above and more finely streaked below.
