Athene superciliaris
The White-browed Hawk-Owl (Athene superciliaris) is a small owl species found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its striking white eyebrows and mottled brown plumage. These nocturnal birds are skilled hunters, preying on small mammals, birds, and insects. They are known for their distinctive hooting calls during the night. White-browed Hawk-Owls are typically found in dense, humid forests and wooded areas, where they roost in tree cavities or dense foliage during the day. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations may face threats from habitat loss and deforestation.
