White-cheeked Bushtit

Aegithalos leucogenys

The White-cheeked Bushtit, scientifically known as Aegithalos leucogenys, is a small passerine bird found in the mountainous regions of Central Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive white cheeks, olive-brown upperparts, and pale underparts. These sociable birds are often seen in small flocks, foraging for insects and spiders in scrubland and woodland habitats. They construct intricate, hanging nests made of moss, lichen, and spider silk. The species is known for its acrobatic flight and melodious, high-pitched calls. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation may pose future challenges for the White-cheeked Bushtit.
