White-chested Puffbird, Malacoptila fusca, is a bird of northern and north-western Amazonia in South America, with breeding recorded from eastern Colombia and south-western Venezuela through eastern Ecuador and central Peru, and also across the lower Amazon Basin into the Guianas and Brazil. It belongs to the Bucconidae family and was first named by Gmelin in 1788. It lives in the lower storey of tropical evergreen forest, including terra firme and várzea, and stays in lowland country. Its range is split into two separate blocks.
