White-chinned Swift

White-chinned Swift, Cypseloides cryptus, is a swift of Middle and South America, breeding from Belize to Guyana, northern Brazil and south-eastern Peru. It is a member of the Apodidae and was described by Zimmer, JT, 1945. Its most distinctive feature is the white chin, set against a dark brown head and throat, with a short pale mark above the eye. The back and rump are blackish brown, with slightly darker wings and tail, while the underparts are paler. It has been recorded from forest, pasture and young secondary growth, and nests near waterfalls.
