White-collared Jay

Cyanolyca viridicyanus (d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1838)

White-collared Jay, Cyanolyca viridicyanus, is a passerine of the eastern Andes in Peru and Bolivia, where it lives in humid montane forest, including cloudforest and elfin forest. It is a resident bird that stays in the same area throughout the year. The sexes look alike. Adults have a dark face, a white band on the forehead and around the throat, and blue plumage over most of the body. Three subspecies are recognised, with C. v. jolyaea the most northerly and the bluest of the three.
