White-crested Elaenia, Elaenia albiceps, is a widespread South American bird in the tyrant flycatcher family. It occurs across Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, and is placed in the genus Elaenia. The bird has a small bushy crest, which gives it its name, and the sexes look alike. It was first described in 1837 by d'Orbigny and de Lafresnaye. Its range includes forest edges, open woodland, secondary growth and scrub, often in drier valley country, and it is found from low to high mountain elevations in parts of its range.
