The White-crowned Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the forests of West Africa. This species is known for its striking white crown and bright red throat, with the rest of its plumage being predominantly black. The male White-crowned Manakin performs elaborate courtship displays to attract females, including rapid wing movements and vocalizations. These birds primarily feed on fruits and insects, foraging in the lower levels of the forest. They are often found in dense, humid forests and secondary growth habitats. The White-crowned Manakin is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, with no major threats identified at present.
