White-eared Honeyeater

Nesoptilotis leucotis

The White-eared Honeyeater (Nesoptilotis leucotis) is a small to medium-sized bird native to Australia. It is characterized by its distinctive white ear patch and olive-green upperparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied calls, often heard in open woodlands, eucalypt forests, and along watercourses. White-eared Honeyeaters primarily feed on nectar, insects, and fruits, using their brush-tipped tongue to extract nectar from flowers. They are often observed in pairs or small groups, foraging actively in the foliage. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
