White-eared Jacamar, Galbalcyrhynchus leucotis, is a bird of western Amazonia in South America, breeding in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It belongs to the jacamar family, Galbulidae, in the order Piciformes. First described by des Murs in 1845, it is the only member of its kind. It is a stout jacamar with a strong bill, and is mostly reddish-chestnut with a bronzy sheen on the crown, wings and tail. Its large white ear coverts are the key feature that sets it apart.
