White-eyed Buzzard, Butastur teesa, breeds across the Oriental Region from Pakistan to Myanmar. It is a hawk in the family Accipitridae, described by Franklin in 1831. The bird is set apart from true buzzards of the genus Buteo by its white iris and by the absence of the usual carpal markings beneath the wings. Its throat is white with a dark central stripe, the head is brown, the upperwing median coverts are pale, and the tail is rufous. It is often seen perched upright for long periods and soaring on thermals.
