White-eyed Thrush

Turdus jamaicensis

The White-eyed Thrush (Turdus jamaicensis) is a medium-sized songbird found in the Caribbean, particularly in Jamaica. It has a distinctive white eye-ring, olive-brown upperparts, and a pale underbelly. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the forest understory. White-eyed Thrushes forage for insects, fruits, and berries in dense vegetation, and are known to be quite secretive and elusive. They prefer moist, shaded areas with dense vegetation, such as montane forests and woodland edges. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to their populations.
