White-fronted Amazon

Amazona albifrons (Sparrman, 1788)

White-fronted Amazon, Amazona albifrons, is a parrot of Middle America, breeding from north-west Mexico to Costa Rica. It is the smallest of the amazon parrots and is identified by the white patch on the forehead, which varies in extent between individuals. Adults show mostly green plumage with blue on the wings, red around the eyes and blue behind the forehead patch. Males and females can be told apart by their shoulders, with red in males and green in females. Juveniles have paler eyes and less red on the face.
