Geotrygon leucometopia (Chapman, 1917)

White-fronted Quail-Dove, Geotrygon leucometopia, is a bird of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, where it is found in a few western localities and may also have occurred in Haiti. It belongs to the pigeon and dove family and was described by Chapman in 1917. The adult shows a striking white forehead, a slate-grey head, reddish purple to violet on the sides of the neck, a reddish lower belly, darker grey upperparts with a metallic purplish blue sheen, and red eyes. Young birds are browner and lack the neck and breast sheen.
