White-headed Babbler

Turdoides leucocephala

The White-headed Babbler (Turdoides leucocephala) is a sociable bird found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its distinctive white head and chestnut-colored body, with a long tail and strong legs. White-headed Babblers are highly social, often foraging in groups and communicating through a variety of calls and vocalizations. They primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates, foraging on the ground and in low vegetation. Their habitat is characterized by open woodlands, thornveld, and scrub, where they can be found in noisy and active groups. While not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations are generally stable across their range.
