White-headed Munia

Lonchura molucca

The White-headed Munia, also known as the Silverbill or White-headed Mannikin, is a small finch native to Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive white head, black and white barred back, and pinkish-brown underparts. This species is often found in open grasslands, rice fields, and cultivated areas, where it forages for seeds and small insects. The White-headed Munia forms small flocks and is known for its cheerful chirping calls. Although not currently listed on the IUCN Red List, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade are potential threats to its populations.
