White-headed Saw-wing

Psalidoprocne albiceps

The White-headed Saw-wing (Psalidoprocne albiceps) is a small passerine bird native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its distinctive white head and underparts, contrasting with its dark brown upperparts. This species is often found in open woodland, savanna, and forest edges, where it forages for insects in flight. The White-headed Saw-wing constructs cup-shaped mud nests, often under the eaves of buildings or in caves. It is a social species and is often seen in small flocks. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation may pose future conservation challenges for this species.
