White-lored Gnatcatcher

Polioptila albiloris

The White-lored Gnatcatcher is a small songbird found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is characterized by its striking white eye-ring and white patch on the side of the head. This species is often found in arid and semi-arid habitats, such as desert scrub, mesquite thickets, and riparian woodlands. White-lored Gnatcatchers are highly active foragers, constantly moving through the foliage in search of insects and spiders. They are known for their high-pitched vocalizations and intricate nest-building behaviors. Despite their small size, they play an important role in controlling insect populations in their native habitats.
