White-masked Antbird, Pithys castaneus, is a bird of north-eastern Peru in a very small part of the country, where it lives in stunted white-sand forest. It is an antbird in the family Thamnophilidae and is found below 300 m. The species was first described by Berlioz in 1938. It is known from a limited area in Amazonas and Loreto, and its habitat is varillal forest with a deep layer of leaf litter and humus. It is not known to migrate. The sexes are alike, and adults have a black-and-white face pattern with rich chestnut plumage.
