Carterornis pileatus (Salvadori, 1878)

White-naped Monarch, Carterornis pileatus, is a bird of the Monarchidae family found in Australasia on Halmahera and Buru in the northern and western Moluccas. It is also known from the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. Its habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. The species was first described by Salvadori in 1878. Two subspecies are recognised: C. p. pileatus on Halmahera and C. p. buruensis on Buru. It was once placed in Monarcha before being moved to Carterornis in 2009.
