White-naped Weaver

Ploceus albinucha

The White-naped Weaver (Ploceus albinucha) is a small passerine bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its distinctive white nape and bright yellow plumage. White-naped Weavers are highly social birds, often found in large colonies where they construct intricately woven, gourd-shaped nests. They are primarily insectivorous, foraging in open grasslands and savannas. During the breeding season, males perform elaborate displays to attract females. The species is generally considered to be of least concern in terms of conservation status, although habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
