Pithys albifrons
The White-plumed Antbird is a small insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It has a distinctive white plume on its head, contrasting with its black and gray plumage. This species is known for its unique foraging behavior, often following army ant swarms to feed on insects flushed out by the ants. It also emits a variety of vocalizations, including a loud, piercing call. The White-plumed Antbird is typically found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where it forages and nests. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its long-term survival.
